MOUNTAIN PARKS AMENDMENT CARRIES BY BIG MAJORITY
--from the Colorado Transcript, May 23, 1912
It will be good news to Golden and Jefferson county to learn that the Mountain Parks amendment was carried by a big majority at the Denver election Tuesday. At the time of going to press last night it was stated that it had carried by at least 6,000. The charter amendment gives the City of Denver power to buy land and to build roads and aid in building them, so that the city may unite in building or maintaining new or existing roads with Jefferson county. The plan embraces a chain of roads and parks from Golden, through the mountains to Evergreen and to Morrison. The first park in the series will be on Lookout mountain, so the victory of the parks boosters at the polls mean the early completion of the scenic road now in construction from Golden to Lookout mountain.
